LIAM brings cheer to underprivileged children from Asrama Darul Falah and SHELTER Home

Kuala Lumpur, 21 August 2014 -  The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) today hosted and sponsored a community service program for about 100 underprivileged children from two homes namely Asrama Darul Falah (ASDAF), Bukit Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur and SHELTER Home, Petaling Jaya.

The event was attended by the LIAM’s President, Mr. Vincent Kwo, representatives from LIAM and the member companies, the Principle of ASDAF, Ustaz Zulyadain Bin Mohd Radzi, the General Manager of SHELTER Home, Mr Cheok Hoong Poh and children from both homes.

“This is part of our contribution to the society through our Insurans Hayat Cares, a community service platform set up by LIAM as a continuity to the ongoing community service initiatives organized by LIAM throughout the years.  Insurans Hayat Cares is created to meet the objective of the Association to be more engaging in serving the community.   It is more special this year as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary and this is one of the activities outlined by the Insurans Hayat Cares in conjunction with this celebration,” said Mr. Kwo.

“In line with the spirit of sharing, caring and giving, we are happy to play our part in organizing this gathering for these children who come from different backgrounds, who need our care, guidance and love without boundary.  This is one of the many activities that Insurans Hayat Cares is organizing in meeting the needs of the community around us. We hope by hosting this gathering for these children, it would bring more happiness, cheer and laughter to the children,” he added.

To add more fun and excitement for the children and teenagers whose ages ranging from 4 to 17, the organizing committee made up of representatives from LIAM and member companies, conducted fun activities to encourage them to use their thinking skills and knowledge on road safety and financial literacy. Activities such as Money Crossword, Road Safety Puzzle and quiz were among the added excitement to the children who were rewarded with prizes for giving the correct answers.

The children were also treated to a sumptuous food and festive delicacies at the gathering.
