Life Insurance Industry Marks 10th Year of Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign LIAM hosts a three-day public health awareness programme at Medan MARA from 2-4 September 2026, featuring free health screenings, consultations and health talks
Kuala Lumpur, 3 September 2026 – A simple act of kindness can make a life-changing difference. This is the message behind the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia’s (LIAM) nationwide blood donation campaign, which marks its 10th year of bringing Malaysians together to give back to the community.
LIAM, in collaboration with the National Blood Centre (Pusat Darah Negara or PDN) and the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (NAMLIFA), together with its 16 member companies is organising a three-month nationwide blood donation campaign from 1 September to 30 November 2026.
To coincide with the campaign,LIAM is hosting a 3-day health awareness and blood donation campaign at the lobby of Medan MARA from 2-4 September 2026, offering complimentary health screenings, health consultations and health talks for the public.
Now in its 10th year, the blood donation campaign continues to encourage Malaysians to donate blood while raising awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare, healthy living and looking out for one another.
The campaign was officially launched today by Lau Chin Ching, Director of Consumer and Market Conduct Department, Bank Negara Malaysia, alongside Pauline Teoh, President of LIAM; Dr Nor Nazahah Mahmud, Director of Pusat Darah Negara; Robin Woh, President of NAMLIFA; and Azar Hairussani Mohd Lud, Deputy Director of the Commercial Infrastructure Division, at the Concourse Area, Medan MARA, Kuala Lumpur.
Speaking at the launch, LIAM President Pauline Teoh expressed her appreciation to blood donors for their invaluable contribution to society.
“I would like to thank everyone who has come forward to donate blood. Your contribution may take only a small amount of your time, but for someone in need, it can make an enormous difference. A single blood donation is a simple act of kindness that can help save lives.”
Pauline said the campaign also serves as a reminder that taking care of one’s health should begin with simple and consistent everyday actions.
“Beyond blood donation, this campaign is also about encouraging all of us to take greater responsibility for our own health and wellbeing. Taking care of our health does not necessarily require major changes. It can start with simple, consistent habits – eating well, staying physically active, getting enough rest, managing stress, going for regular health screenings and paying attention to changes in our bodies,” she said.
As part of the campaign, LIAM has also set up a SEMAK KASIH counter at Medan MARA, providing an opportunity for members of the public to check whether a deceased loved one may have left behind unclaimed life insurance or family takaful benefits.
“SEMAK KASIH is a single, trusted platform jointly developed by LIAM and the Malaysian Takaful Association to help families reconnect with life insurance and takaful benefits left behind by their loved ones. I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to visit the counter and check whether a deceased loved one may have left behind any unclaimed benefits with participating insurers and takaful operators,” Pauline said.
Beyond blood donation, visitors to the three-day programme can access a range of complimentary health-related services and activities provided by LIAM’s healthcare partners, including the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, ROSE Foundation, KPJ Healthcare Group, Medic Physio Empire Sdn Bhd and SALAM Shah Alam Specialist Hospital.
Members of the public can benefit from free health screenings, health consultations, posture assessments and advisory services to help them better understand and manage their health. Daily health talks will also be held from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm, covering topics including cervical cancer awareness, cancer prevention and stress management.
Pauline encouraged Malaysians to take away three simple but meaningful messages from the campaign: “Take care of your health. Be informed about your wellbeing. And look out for one another.”
Meanwhile, LIAM CEO Mark O’Dell said the campaign has grown into something much bigger than a blood donation drive, bringing together the life insurance industry, healthcare partners, volunteers and the wider community around a shared commitment to caring for one another.
“This campaign is really about something much bigger than a single event. It is about bringing people together around a simple but important message – that looking after our health and supporting one another should be part of our everyday lives.
“Over the years, this campaign has grown through the collective efforts of many organisations and individuals. Its continued success would not be possible without the commitment of our members, partners and volunteers who have contributed their time, resources and energy to make a difference.
“I would also like to acknowledge the teams working behind the scenes. Organising a nationwide campaign requires considerable coordination, and their efforts often go unnoticed. On behalf of LIAM, thank you for making this campaign possible.”
Mark said that every blood donation represents an opportunity to give someone in need a second chance. “Every bag of blood donated represents more than just blood – it represents hope, a second chance, and the possibility for someone to return home to the people who matter most,” Mark added.
The nationwide blood donation campaign will run from 1 September to 30 November 2026, with blood donation drives held at various locations across the country.
Members of the public are encouraged to participate and play their part in this meaningful community initiative. For more information on campaign locations and dates, please visit www.liam.org.my.
