Celebrating 40 years of LIFE

LIAM organised a celebration dinner on 21 November 2014 in conjunction with its 40th Anniversary - promoting camaraderie within the industry's community and with special tributes to its past Presidents who had served the industry for the past four decades at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Hotel.

Approximately 400 current and former industry's captains, practitioners, stakeholders and regulators from three different generations - Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y who are contributors to the development of the industry.

Among those present were LIAM’s past Presidents namely Mr Steve Wong, Encik Amarudin Tajuldin, Mr Alex Foong Soo Hah, YBhg. Datuk L. Meyyappan, Captain Chia, Mr Ng Lian Lu, En Adnan Md Zain and En Din Merican.

The historic event was graced by the Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, YBhg Dato' Muhammad bin Ibrahim who delivered an inspiring and motivating speech at the dinner.

Meanwhile, in his opening remarks at the dinner, LIAM’s President, Mr. Vincent Kwo reiterated the significant roles that the 14 past Presidents of LIAM had played over the years in transforming LIAM into a reputable association with strong backing from 16 member companies.

Over the last four decades, LIAM went through thick and thin, adapting to regulatory changes and undergoing transformation process along the way.  Today, LIAM is standing tall and has become a key financial pillar of Malaysia’s financial system.

Mr Kwo also highlighted the industry’s duty to ensure that the next generation of leaders are moulded to be the leaders of tomorrow. The young leaders must share the same passion, vision and core values carried by the past industry leaders which will eventually help to achieve Government’s aspiration in insuring 75% of Malaysians in 2020.


The logo depicts the 40-year of existence of LIFE insurance in Malaysia. The vibrant colours of Red and Yellow symbolize the dynamic and progressive insurance industry while the blue, black and white represent strength, unity and professionalism amongst the industry players in serving the community. The lines and curves in the graphics reflect resilience, optimism and energy as we move forward to achieve our vision and goals.
