The 6th Malaysia Career and Training Fair

Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) and Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) were among the supporting organizations of the 6th Malaysia Career and Training Fair 2007 held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur from 6 to 8 April 2007.

Organised by AIC Events Sdn Bhd and Jobstreet.com, the fair attracted some 84,000 visitors, the highest in the fair's six years history.

The fair was officiated by YB Datuk Abdul Rahim bin Bakar, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Malaysia.

Some 160 multinational and local companies from various industries participated in the fair. It featured over 15,000 jobs.

The participating companies covered a wide section of the market ranging from insurance, banking, education, hotels to technology-related companies. Among the companies were Sony, Hitachi, Resorts World, Alliance Bank, Star Cruises, Samsung and Sime Darby. The insurance companies were American International Assurance Co Ltd (AIA), Hong Leong Assurance Berhad, Great Eastern Life Assurance (M) Berhad and Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad.

In conjunction with the fair, the organizers also held a series of talk on career development which were presented by the participating exhibitors.

LIAM hosted the career talk on 7 April 2007. The speakers were Ms Lee Choi Ngor, Assistant Manager, Training and Education Department, of Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad and Mr Mason Cha Weay Chia, Agency Manager from AmAssurance Berhad. Ms Lee's topic was on 'Career Opportunities in the life insurance industry' while Mr Cha spoke on 'Career Opportunities in Life Insurance Selling'.
